VMANN DORPER

Welcome to the Vmann Dorper web page.

A little bit about us...      We are James and Donna Viehmann.  We started raising dorper sheep in June 2003, when we bought our first few head at the MidWest Stud Ram Show and Sale in Sedalia, Missouri.  During the summer of 2003 we enrolled in the VSFCP (Voluntary Scrapie Flock Certification Program), and became members of the American Dorper Sheep Breeders Society (ADSBS).  At the present time we are producing top quality Dorpers, and using the upgrading program offered by ADSBS.   Please look around the page and let us know what you think or if we can help you with anything, remember lambs are being born as you read and of course are for sale.

A bit about dorpers...   Dorpers originated in South Africa in the 1930's from the Horned Dorset and Blackheaded Persian.  Dorpers are bred for carcass characteristics and ability to thrive in dry conditions.  Dorpers are unique with the mixture of hair and wool that is shed, therefore shearing is not needed.  Mothers are great milkers and the lambs are very vigorous.  These beautiful sheep have a non typical breeding season (all year round) and are able to have three lamb crops in two years.  Lambs from Dorpers are very fast growing and are very meaty.

A bit about the puppies...  We now have two males, both Anatolian Shepherd and Great Pyrenees Shepherd mix.   Therefore we have no puppies.  Please remember these dogs where raised with our sheep and children but we try to keep human contact at a minimum.
